The Trinity in Ukraine

The day of the Holy Trinity, or Whitsun Day, is celebrated 50 days after Easter. That’s why every year the date of this holiday changes.

On this day, the apostles of the Holy Spirit descended to the earth in the form of tongues of flame. This happened in the feast of Whitsun Day, which was celebrated on the 50th day after the Jewish Easter. The very name of the holiday reflects the essence of the doctrine of the Trinity of God.

Since the descent to the land of the apostles, this holiday was celebrated by Christians around the world. On this day, churches and houses are decorated with young greenery (branches of trees, flowers, grasses). Young greens symbolize the offerings of God to the gifts of nature that our land is rich in this season of the year. The greenery symbolizes the Church itself, which began to flourish.

In our country, this holiday is celebrated mainly in the church and the family circle. On this day streets of cities are emptying, and villages are filled with people.
